It’s coming.
Graduation day. All right, all of you parents with seniors may have very little sympathy for me, since your kids are graduating from H.S. and will be going away to college soon, but this 8th grade graduation is a big time for my family. A new phase in our lives….our oldest will be in high school in the fall! After attending the same school for 9 years, this will be a big change for us. But one that my daughter is more than ready to make….she just can’t wait. Every day she reminds me just how many days are left until graduation (I think the number’s in the low 20′s now, I’m sure she will correct me when she gets home.)
I was lucky enough to photograph my daughter and her class recently. It was so great to see them all dressed up. One of the interesting aspects of photographing someone is that you’re literally focusing on them very intently. You have the luxury of noticing their eye color, the way they duck their head a little when they smile….you have time to really pay attention to who they are. Even though I only had a minute or so per kid, it was great. Just another of the benefits of being a photographer, having the opportunity to really notice another person and get a glimpse of what makes them tick.
First up is my freckled girl, along with some of her fellow 8th graders. Congratulations guys!
