This gorgeous little girl took me by surprise! When we “schedule” newborn shoots, we know that we really have little to say about when it will actually happen. Babies have their own plans….and it’s so important to get them in those first 10 days after birth….that’s when they still truly look like newborns. They are curly and sleepy and still have great skin (a few days older and the skin is still beautiful, but often affected by baby acne, scratching by their sharp little nails, and maybe some peeling). They also start to really grow quickly, and really only look “newborn” for a fleeting time.
So when a client schedules, we pencil in a date in order to hold the time in my bookings for them, usually set for a week after their due date, knowing that we can adjust it when the baby actually arrives. Then mom calls me when she gets home from the hospital and we schedule the TRUE date. But this little beauty was so sweet to her mom and decided to come 2.5 weeks early! So rare for a first pregnancy! But very lucky, I say.
It was lovely photographing this beautiful family, they made my work easy.
Daddy was already an expert with the little one, nothing threw him….he swears it’s because he’s trained a puppy….they get you ready for babies, lots of messes!
I love this shot and am thrilled we caught a sweet smile!
Apparently the new grandma had just brought this adorable hat for her….I thought it was fantastic! So soft and great colors!
parts and bits….
Ah, the wrinkle of a new baby’s skin….check out her back!
My favorite for sure. sigh.
When the parents told me they’d love to get a shot of their sweet pup with their new gorgeous girl, I thought we’d use the fantastic nursery! Can you believe that the dad painted the wall art to match the bedding himself? So cool!
And little Mowgli the lab was perfectly trained, ready for her close-up.
I had to add this last one…check out the matching tongues!
